Covered Cheese Dish
The actual Villeroy & Boch item you are bidding on is shown in
the photos.  It measures 8 1/2" in diameter and stands 4" tall.
This covered cheese dish is
in very
good antique
condition
without
any
cracks,
or
repairs
.  By using eBay's magnifying
tool, the
5th
photo does show a few very small chips on the
underside
of the round insert.  Also, a small manufacturing
defect
is visible on
the upper left underside of the plate
(8th photo)
Consistent with age
and use, there is
slight
fading to the
white areas as can be
seen in the photos.

note that any
light areas or
shadows
in
the
photos are camera glare.
There is some debate on when the Rouen pattern was manufactured.
It is my understanding that following the separation of the Saar region
from the German Reich in 1920, as a result of the First World War,
the factories there were no longer available to Villeroy & Boch.
